Technical Specifications

Summary: This document provides the detailed technical specifications required to implement STRIDE's functional requirements. It covers the technology stack, data models, system architecture, and non-functional requirements.

1. Technology Stack

Component Technology Version Justification
Frontend React.js / Next.js 18.x Modern UI, SSR/SSG, strong ecosystem.
Backend Node.js / FastAPI 20.x / 3.11 High performance, async support, API flexibility.
Database PostgreSQL / MongoDB 15 / 6 ACID compliance, scalability, flexible schema.
Search ElasticSearch / Meilisearch 8.x / 1.x Fast, contextual, full-text search.
Auth Google SSO - Seamless, secure authentication.
AI/NLP (v2) OpenAI / LangChain - Natural language query, smart recommendations.
Containerization Docker 20.10 Consistent environments, easy deployment.
Orchestration Kubernetes 1.27 Scalability, resilience, and service discovery.

2. System Architecture

STRIDE follows a modular, service-oriented architecture. For a visual representation, see the High-Level Architecture Diagram.

Key Components:

  • UI (Search + Admin): React.js/Next.js frontend for search, tagging, and admin workflows.
  • API Layer: Node.js or FastAPI backend exposing REST endpoints for all core functionalities.
  • Auth Service: Google SSO integration and role-based access control.
  • Content Ingestion Service: Connects to Notion, Google Drive, and public APIs for content sync.
  • Tagging Engine: Applies and enforces structured tags across all content.
  • Search Engine: ElasticSearch/Meilisearch for fast, contextual search and filtering.
  • Smart Content Pack Builder: Compiles and exports personalized content packs (PDF, etc.).
  • Analytics & Reporting: Tracks usage, search trends, and content effectiveness.

3. Data Model (Core Entities)

3.1. users Collection/Table

CREATE TABLE users (
    id UUID PRIMARY KEY DEFAULT gen_random_uuid(),
    email VARCHAR(255) UNIQUE NOT NULL,
    role VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, -- sales, enablement, admin
    created_at TIMESTAMPTZ DEFAULT NOW(),
    updated_at TIMESTAMPTZ DEFAULT NOW()
);

3.2. content_assets Collection/Table

CREATE TABLE content_assets (
    id UUID PRIMARY KEY DEFAULT gen_random_uuid(),
    title VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL,
    type VARCHAR(50), -- case_study, deck, narrative, etc.
    source VARCHAR(255), -- Notion, Drive, etc.
    url TEXT,
    uploaded_by UUID REFERENCES users(id),
    created_at TIMESTAMPTZ DEFAULT NOW(),
    updated_at TIMESTAMPTZ DEFAULT NOW()
);

3.3. tags Collection/Table

CREATE TABLE tags (
    id UUID PRIMARY KEY DEFAULT gen_random_uuid(),
    asset_id UUID REFERENCES content_assets(id),
    industry VARCHAR(100),
    stage VARCHAR(100),
    outcome VARCHAR(100),
    product VARCHAR(100),
    relevance VARCHAR(100),
    applied_by UUID REFERENCES users(id),
    created_at TIMESTAMPTZ DEFAULT NOW()
);

4. Non-Functional Requirements

4.1. Performance

  • All search and content retrieval operations must respond in under 2 seconds (p95).
  • The system must support 1,000+ concurrent users with no degradation in performance.

4.2. Security

  • All data in transit must be encrypted with TLS 1.3.
  • All sensitive data at rest must be encrypted using AES-256.
  • Google SSO for authentication; role-based access enforced throughout.
  • Regular security audits and penetration testing are required.

4.3. Scalability

  • The system must be horizontally scalable across all services.
  • Automated scaling policies should be in place to handle traffic spikes and ingestion loads.
